Terms

Once there is agreement on the goals of the book project and your specific needs as the client and author, all terms will be reduced to a clear and easy to understand term sheet which includes payment schedule and deliverable dates. When the term sheet is approved and deposit is made, the clock begins to tick.

Fees

A typical fee for a book of standard length is $45,000 to $65,000 (a typical novel is approximately 75,000–100,000 words) depending on specific requirements.

A shorter book of novella length (20,000–40,000 words) is typically between $30,000 and $45,000 depending on specific requirements.

There is 2/3rd advance payment with the remaining balance due upon completion of the full first draft.

Following our review of the first draft, I will continue working with you through up to three additional revisions to achieve a final manuscript that meets your expectations.

I am not satisfied until you are satisfied.

Timing

A typical, standard-length book requires six to eight months from concept to completion.

Shorter books can usually be completed within four months.

For an additional fee, the process can be expedited to accommodate tighter timelines. If a project involves unusual research requirements, special considerations, or additional services, supplemental fees may apply.

Publishing Print, Audio and E-Books

Once the book is complete, you will own a valuable intellectual property that can be acquired by a publisher for sale and distribution or released through self-publishing.

At that point, you may choose one of two paths:

1. Self-Publishing

I am pleased to work with a quality agency and an excellent team of designers, typesetters, and specialists who can provide an all-in-one self-publishing package, including typesetting, design, and printing. Marketing and fulfillment options are also available.

2. Traditional Publishing

You may submit the manuscript to publishers on your own, or retain my team and I to represent the book to publishers, negotiate terms, and ensure you secure the strongest possible publishing agreement.

Don’t Forget Audio and E-Books!

Because many readers now consume books digitally, I strongly recommend producing your work in e-book and audiobook formats. I have extensive experience creating both. Our agency and team would be pleased to provide a complete, end-to-end solution.

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.”
